First Prima Plus: Slidecoaster and Boulevard

Norwegian Aqua is the first Prima Plus Freestyle ship from 2025: longer than Prima, with Aqua Slidecoaster thrills, Ocean Boulevard and Indulge Food Hall, and room for about 3,570 guests. The Haven upstairs keeps a private enclave if you want a quieter corner.

Main dining covers included hours; Indulge Food Hall is the grazing headline. Specialty dining is the paid layer: among them Cagney’s or steak, Le Bistro and Japanese or sushi rooms. Drinks packages and covers are extra — price those into the week.

Evenings run theatre productions and Ocean Boulevard bars; daytime is Slidecoaster, pools and Mandara Spa. She is Prima Plus Freestyle at full stretch — not a quiet mid-size Dawn-class ship.

If you want Aqua Slidecoaster, Ocean Boulevard and Indulge Food Hall with Haven as your escape hatch, Aqua fits — just budget specialty nights and drinks.

On board

Indulge, Boulevard, Slidecoaster

  1. 01

    Indulge and specialty

Main dining handles included meals; Indulge Food Hall is where many guests graze between shows. Specialty nights repay a plan — among them Cagney’s or steak, Le Bistro and Japanese or sushi. Haven guests use private dining. Book specialty early on sea days. Specialty doors repay an embarkation-day reservation — the same 19:30 sea-day slot is popular across the ship. Keep one or two included nights in the plan so the week does not become a run of cover charges.

  2. 02

    Theatre

The theatre runs NCL production shows and guest acts sized for Prima Plus crowds. Programmes change by season — check your sailing. Arrive early for centre seats on popular nights. Reserve popular specialty tables on embarkation day — sea-day 19:30 slots go first. Covers and drinks packages sit outside the simple cruise — price what you will actually buy.

  3. 03

    Ocean Boulevard after dark

Ocean Boulevard bars and late lounges carry the after-show loop. Drink packages sit outside the simple cruise — price what you will actually drink. The mood is Freestyle holiday energy, not British formal. Live music, trivia and quieter cocktail corners fill the gaps between headline shows. Price drinks packages against what you will actually order; a short bar crawl still adds up on a long week.

  4. 04

    Aqua Slidecoaster and spa

Aqua Slidecoaster owns thrill daytime. Pool decks fill hard in peak weeks. Mandara Spa treatments are mostly extra — book ahead if that is your reset. Haven keeps private outdoor space upstairs. Claim outdoor space early on warm sea days — empty loungers vanish by mid-morning in peak weeks.

  5. 05

    Haven and families

Kids’ clubs run at Freestyle family scale. School holidays feel full. Haven is the quieter enclave. Families who will use Slidecoaster and the clubs get Aqua’s brief; quiet traditional diners should look at a smaller premium line. Families chase splash edges; adults often want the quieter rail. Thermal spa time is a separate spend on most lines — book a sea-day pass if heat loungers are your reset rather than another crowded sundeck.

Indulge Food Hall

Prima-class food hall with many counters — the casual included heart for quick meals. Included for the standard halls; a few premium bites may add on. Ideal when you do not want a full dining-room sitting.

Main dining

Included Freestyle dining rooms — turn up when you want. No cover for the standard rooms. Best for classic plated dinners without specialty pricing.

Cagney's / steak

NCL’s classic steakhouse — one of the pricier covers. Quieter and more dressed-up than Indulge. Splurge night, not a filler. Go here when you want a dressed-up evening, not a quick buffet plate. Book early on sea days.

Le Bistro

French specialty with a cover — quieter than the food hall. Higher spend than main dining. Best for a dressed-up evening without the steakhouse queue. Book early on sea days.

Japanese / sushi

Paid Japanese and sushi tables — teppanyaki theatre among them. Cover applies; more of an occasion than Indulge. Book early on sea days. Use it if it matches how you actually holiday.

Theatre

NCL production shows in the main house — Prima-plus energy, not a West End transfer. Programmes change by season. Included; centre seats on night one if the headline matters.

Ocean Boulevard

Outdoor promenade with bars and lounge pockets. Drinks extra. Best for a sea-day wander between thrill toys and dinner. Use it if it matches how you actually holiday.

Aqua Slidecoaster

Hybrid slide-coaster thrill. Included once aboard — queues on sea days. For thrill-chasers; quiet sunbed hunters should look elsewhere. Best for families and anyone chasing thrills; quiet sunbed hunters should look elsewhere.

The Haven

Private suite enclave with its own lounge, restaurant and sundeck energy. Costs more than a standard balcony — space and shortcuts, not a second ship. Best if you paid for that key. Book early on sea days. Expect a cover charge and a clearer spend than the included rooms.

Mandara Spa

Treatments and thermal suite sold as extras. Calmer than the thrill decks. Book ahead on sea days if heat loungers are the plan. Book ahead on sea days if heat loungers and steam are your reset.

Fit

Who she is for

  • Freestyle fans who want Aqua Slidecoaster, Ocean Boulevard and Indulge Food Hall on NCL’s first Prima Plus ship.
  • Haven bookers who want a private enclave on a 3,500-guest ship, while budgeting drinks and specialty covers outside it.
  • Not for quiet traditional dining or guests who refuse specialty covers. Choose Dawn-class NCL or a British premium line instead.

Where

Where Aqua tends to go

Early seasons mixed UK/Europe positioning with US East Coast, Bermuda and Caribbean programmes. Exact bases shift as Luna joins.

Treat this as the ship’s range, not a fixed timetable. When this guide is public, sailings with two or more UK agent prices will sit at the bottom.

Before you book

What the brochure skips

  • Price drinks packages, specialty dining, Haven and spa fees into the week — the Freestyle cruise price is only the start.
  • Compare UK agents on the same sailing — same date, cruise-only, two guests. The hero price should be the lowest bookable one, not the first logo you recognise.
