The ship
Lead Prima Freestyle with Ocean Boulevard
Norwegian Prima is the lead Prima-class NCL ship (2022): Ocean Boulevard wraparound, Indulge Food Hall and Freestyle dining on a wider mid-large ship pitched slightly above Breakaway chaos. About 3,200 guests. No Encore-length kart as the headline — Prima sells Boulevard polish and food-hall casual instead.
Specialty dining is the paid layer: among them Cagney’s, Le Bistro and the Japanese/sushi rooms — fuller list on the venue cards. Main dining and the Garden Café / buffet sit in the cruise; specialty is extra. Reserve the nights you care about early; sea-day tables go first.
Evenings centre on Ocean Boulevard, Prima Theatre shows and Indulge Food Hall grazing. Daytime is dry slides and sports, Splash Academy and The Haven for those who booked it. She is NCL’s newer Prima-class pitch — design-led Freestyle, not Epic-scale chaos.
If you want Prima-class Freestyle — Ocean Boulevard, Indulge Food Hall, Haven upstairs — Prima is the clear choice.

- 01
Indulge and specialty
You will not eat everywhere in a week — among them Cagney’s, Le Bistro and the Japanese/sushi rooms (fuller set on the venue cards). Main dining and the Garden Café / buffet sit in the cruise; specialty is extra. Reserve popular rooms on embarkation or before you sail — sea days still fill. Pick deliberately rather than treating the deck plan as a checklist.
- 02
Theatre and shows
Prima Theatre is the centre of Norwegian Prima’s show nights. Recent seasons have featured Burn the Floor. Treat any named show as current-season colour — the programme changes by season, so check your sailing before you plan the week around one title. Beyond the main house, notable entertainment rooms — among them Syd Norman’s Pour House, the comedy club and Ocean Boulevard stages — are the spaces guests actually plan around, not every bar on the deck plan. Book a centre seat on night one if the headline matters; wandering in rarely beats a reservation on sea days.
- 03
Ocean Boulevard
Wraparound outdoor deck with sculptures, food spots and Infinity Beach aft — the social spine of the class. Daytime stroll and evening air in one loop. Peak hours are busy; quieter corners appear if you keep walking past the first cluster of seats. This is the Prima idea more than a kart length. Price drinks and spa extras honestly before the brochure photo does the talking.
- 04
Thrill and spa
Dry slides, mini-golf, sports court, Mandara Spa thermal suite and Vibe Beach Club-style adults areas where fitted. Less kart-obsessed than Encore; still active. Thermal and Vibe are extras — price them if you will use them more than once in the week. Claim a good seat or lounger early on sea days — the popular corners go first.
- 05
Kids and Haven
Splash Academy and teen spaces; The Haven for suite guests who want a quieter courtyard and restaurant. Casino and shops close the loop. Couples and families happy to pay for specialty and drinks fit best; traditional British dining seekers will still feel Freestyle volume in the public rooms. Price drinks and spa extras honestly before the brochure photo does the talking.
Indulge Food Hall
Indulge Food Hall for marketplace plates — many items in the cruise, some specialty stations extra. Perfect between Ocean Boulevard and theatre when you do not want a full restaurant. Book early on sea days.
Main dining
Main dining in the cruise — Freestyle plated dinners without a cover. Best for most nights when specialty is saved for one or two evenings. Book early on sea days.
Cagney's / steak
Cagney’s / steak specialty with a cover — quieter and more dressed-up than Indulge. Splurge territory. Book early if steak is your treat night.
Le Bistro
Le Bistro French specialty with a cover — dressier tasting energy. Among the pricier covers. Go here for a splurge dinner dinner, not a cheap filler night night. Book early on sea days.
Japanese / sushi
Japanese / sushi specialty with a cover — lighter plates than Cagney’s. Mid-tier paid dining. Good between Boulevard hours and theatre. Book early on sea days.
Prima Theatre
Prima Theatre for production shows — recent seasons have featured Burn the Floor. Titles change by season; check your sailing. Included; grab a centre seat on night one if the headline matters.
Ocean Boulevard
Ocean Boulevard is Prima’s open-air promenade for walks, pours and sea air — the outdoor evening spine of the ship. Included social space once you are aboard; drinks sit outside the cruise. Best for a sea-day wander between Indulge and the theatre.
The Haven
The Haven suite enclave — private courtyard, lounge and restaurant for guests who paid for that key. Costs more than a standard balcony; you are buying space and shortcuts, not a second ship. Book early on sea days. Expect a cover charge and a clearer spend than the included rooms.
Vibe Beach Club
Vibe Beach Club adults-only sun deck — often extra. Quieter than the main splash decks; cabanas and softer soundtrack. Pay for calm if that is your daytime priority. Book early on sea days.
Mandara Spa
Mandara Spa treatments and thermal suite as extras. A calmer daytime reset than Boulevard thrills. Book ahead on sea days if heat loungers and steam are your plan.
Fit
Who she is for
- Guests wanting newer NCL hardware with Ocean Boulevard polish and Indulge Food Hall rather than Breakaway Plus kart culture as the main draw.
- Couples and families happy to pay for specialty dining and drinks packages on top of the cruise, and who will actually walk the Boulevard each day.
- Not the ship if you need Encore's go-kart length or a quiet traditional British dining room — choose Encore or a classic British line instead.
Where
Where Prima tends to go
European and warm-water seasons have both featured as NCL rotates Prima ship. Fly-cruise or occasional Europe homeports depending on the year.
Treat this as the ship's range, not a fixed timetable. When this guide is public, sailings with two or more UK agent prices will sit at the bottom.
Before you book
What the brochure skips
- Freestyle does not mean everything is in the cruise. Specialty dining, Vibe, thermal suite and most drink packages are extras — price the holiday as the cruise plus what you will actually buy.
- Compare UK agents on the same sailing — same ship, same date, cruise-only, two sharing. The hero price should be the lowest bookable one, not the first logo you recognise.
